DVD Players - Features to Consider

DVD players have become a necessary complement to the television for enjoying films and music too. Since theatre going has come down drastically and people prefer watching films in the comfort and convenience of their own home DVD players have taken the place of film projectors. DVD players therefore are being designed to offer sound and visual effects faithful to the authentic theatre experience. Very minute adjustments can be made both in the audio and video quality by using the control panels embedded into the device. The viewer is simply transported into another world!

The images on the screen are sharp and clear and there is no fear of causing eye strain because of the vacuum florescent display and thanks to the Dolby digital audio output the sound is crystal clear.

These sleek and compact models take up very little space and can be accommodated easily near the television. The dimension of the DVD player is about 8 x 43 x 31 cm and weighs about 31 kilograms. Most standard DVD players have the facility to play CD, VCD, CD-R, CD-RW, SVCD, DVD+R etc. The playable file formats are Div X and MP3 in most of these players. The controls are user friendly and very easy to operate.

The high definition media interface is used for video scaling. Both images and sound tracks can be adjusted to fast forward, rewind, slow motion playback and frame by frame play back. Along with different speed playback there is also the time search and repeat functions. There are also eight level parental controls for families with children at impressionable ages and who need monitoring. The multi subtitle support is a boon if one is watching foreign films and the dialogues are quite incomprehensible. There is also a dialogue enhancer in a DVD Player with surround sound for the more discerning listener.

Stereo and 5.1 channel outputs are some of the other standard features. Music can be downloaded from the internet, CD or PC with the help of the MP3 playback. The audio quality can be fine tuned to bass, treble and surround sound. Most DVD's can play a single disc at a time but have progressive scan features. The picture quality can be adjusted for contrast, brightness, saturation, gamma correction, blackness, zoom and sharpness, bringing a life like quality to the images. DVD players are therefore a must for the regular movie watcher.
